National Biomechanics Day (NBD)

Happy National Biomechanics Day!

VT hosted NBD asynchronous virtually through BOLD from April 6th - 16th 2021! The content from that event will remain on this website for anyone who is interested in learning more about Biomechanics through an exploration of the BOLD website. You can explore the labs at VT on the website or through the virtual reality spaces linked at each lab's subpages. Additionally, we have some fun activities to do at home or in the classroom including a gait biomechanics activity and a spine biomechanics activity. Please use the menu at the top of the page or bottom to navigate the site.

Founded in 2016, National Biomechanics Day (NBD) is a celebration of biomechanics principles, research, and innovation across the United States and around the world.  Biomechanics combines science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics to offer engaging opportunities for both students and teachers. The 2016-2019 NBD events were hugely successful and offered the opportunity for students to participate in hands-on biomechanics activities. NBD gives students the chance to interact with undergraduate and graduate students, meet impactful faculty members, and get first-hand exposure to fundamental principles of biomechanics while having a blast in hands-on games and activities. Virginia Tech was a participant in the inaugural NBD event in 2016 and will continue with an exciting and fun-filled event annually. In 2021 the Virginia Tech NBD event was a virtual event featuring BOLD: Biomechanics Online Learning Destination!
